All Apologies?

So this morning, this Sunday morning, I realized something horrible. I remembered a promise I made to you guys, to have another one of my reruns up on Friday, and I feel really lame for missing it. Sorry, guys.
Let me make it up to you. We've got two reruns here for you.

I'm sure that the subject of Prom requires no introduction.

And here's Our Newest High School Comic Ever. I did this one for the final May issue of the school paper. Had a lot of fun with those comics, back in high school.

So...Um...Sorry I'm Late

Hey, gang. Sorry you haven't seen much comic lately...Christmas season's been a little crazy this year, between juggling shopping and vacations with work. I was at my aunt and uncle's, without internet access or a scanner. I had this great idea to illustrate a Christmas joke, it was gonna be great, but I didn't get it off in time...

DARTH VADER: Luke, (hwwff-shwhh) I know what you're getting for Christmas this year.
LUKE: No! How could you know that? That's impossible!!
DARTH VADER: (hwwff-shwhh) I felt your presents.

Thanks, Scott Steinmuller. Maybe next year I'll be doing regular Pungirls! comics and have an actual website at pungirls.net, and I'll do that comic on Christmas and run it, and I'll have all these fans that didn't see me forecast it right here. It'll be totally new to all these people, man! Or maybe not. Who knows? Anyways, I know what you came here for. You came here for a comic.

A few explanations about my school will--as usual--help you better enjoy the comic. This ran as the April Fool's comic, and whenever I do April Fool's comics, I go by the name "Slacker Jon Lerf." "Think Spring" was this event the student senate came up with, to boost school spirit and have some fun, it was basically a little party at lunch with some free food and music and a limbo contest, and probably some of those cheesy flower necklace wreath thingies, I forget. So in the comic, Milton comes up with his own ideas...
Turansky Day: Bob Turansky is Seven Hills' notoriously loud history teacher. He delivers his lectures yelling at the top of his lungs.
Soccer in the Commons: Against the rules! There had recently been some problems with kids playing soccer in the commons.
The other events are pretty self-explanatory...

More reruns on Friday, yo. I'm hopin' to get back in the game with semi-regular original content after New Year's. I'll let you know my plans.

Reruns: Snacking

See, this strip is funny because it takes place in the Commons, where food is not allowed to be eaten.

Mmm, Twinkies.

We also, for the very first time ever, find out the name of the girl who looks kind of like Karen. It's Alice. I'd forgotten that Alice looks so much like Karen.

Banned in the UK! I Mean in the School Paper!

Shocking!

This comic didn't run in the paper because the joke passed over everyone's heads that I showed it to. No one on the editorial staff recognized the star wars reference, and people consistently had trouble understanding the connection between the final panel and the rest of the comic. If you yourself don't get the comic, just hover your mouse over the link to the comic up there, and an explanation will pop up secret-message style.

Reruns continue: Jake Has a Dream

The Products of a Hyperactive Intuitary Gland?

Tune in on Friday for a special edition of The Comic Strip that was never published in Common Canvass. See the strip that was too controversial to run! What kind of outrageous, scandalous material could possibly have kept it from passing the review of the editorial staff? What unspeakable horrors could be contained therein? Be sure to visit the site on Friday and find out!

Reruns continue

hey all. got another comic from my senior year stint as the cartoonist for the high school paper. So check it out:

Pizza Sale Club

A bit of background: an entreprenurially-inclined member of the senior class who had leadership positions in several clubs started having pizza sale fundraisers for these clubs, rather frequently, by ordering from Papa John's and selling the pizzas at a profit. They proved to be pretty effective fundraisers, and pretty soon all kinds of clubs were having pizza sales to raise club funds. It got out of hand quickly, and the school eventually had to limit the number of pizza sales and how often any given club could have them. This strip is sort of a commentary on the phenomenon, but it's equally an observation of Milton's inability to have an even remotely practical idea.

The Comic Strip, Oct. 2000

Greetings, everyone. More reruns for your enjoyment, again from my senior year of high school; some of you will recognize it. This time around,
Milton consults an outside source on his history test.

I have seriously almost got a t-shirt design finished! Now I've just got to find the cheapest dang deal on printing that I can, and then find out how many of you are interested in a t-shirt. I'll keep you posted.

More Extra Bonus Stuff

Hey, everyone. Here's some more extra bonus stuff to make up for the fact that I'm not making you any comics. The news is one holiday late, almost two, but you'll never guess what my parents found back at Halloween. That's right: none other than our good friend Dmitri the vampire.

me with Dmitri
he makes an excellent hat

I was very glad to see that he is smiling, that after his long past of cruelty and suffering he has finally found happiness. if you press his hand, his cheeks glow red with an eerie light and he makes a spooky noise like:
"OOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo
OOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo
OOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo."
I thought you all might like to see how he is doing these days. Tomorrow we'll scan in another one of my old cartoons and post that bad boy up on here. It'll be kind of cool!

The Comic Strip: Sept. 2000?

Sorry I didn't post this up yesterday. I was going to, but...I forgot. I am an evil cartoonist. Anyway...so, my senior year of high school, I did a comic for the school paper. Maybe you remember it. For those of you who don't know about Seven Hills Upper School, the "personal challenge" was a project that everyone had to complete before graduating, which is probably best explained by giving examples of stuff people did. Students wrote novels or plays, trained for marathons, learned a new language, began their music careers by creating a techno CD, built go-karts, grew gardens, mastered the yo-yo, and more. But as for the comic, it was hand-lettered, so maybe you will actually be able to read it. Maybe.

Click for Comic.

Anyway, sorry that the archive is getting so messy, but the mess will be gone as soon as we move to pungirls.net. The move is making slow but steady progress. Plus, I should have a t-shirt design up soon, based on the first "Beet" comic. Further updates to come.

You've Got Reruns

Well, I dug up some comics to scan up. Our first installment of "reruns" is a handful of ridiculous "horror" comics from my junior high days: "The Bimlik." Do you really want to behold the hideous terror? Do you? I warn you now: the idiocy is not for the faint of will.

Tune in on Monday for more flashback comics with 50% less suction than the "Bimlik" series.
