Dmitri, and other vampires like him, are vulnerable to a stake through the heart not from any mystical vampiric weakness, but simply because it causes the most severe loss of blood possible. Vampires whose bodies are emptied of blood enter a state of stasis, in which they are highly vulnerable. One of the pleasures of telling modern stories about vampires is reinventing the vampire mythos for the hojillionth time.

Yeah...so much for the whole punchline thing. I mostly needed this comic to advance the storyline, and I couldn't think of an adequate pun for the gag. Or at least, I could only think of puns so forced they would make you gag...
Movin' right along then. Somethin' grabs ahold of me tightly, flow like a harpoon daily and nightly.
